Arena Group reduces waste through collaboration with local communities

Arena Group delivers some of the world’s most iconic sporting and cultural events; through their environmental strategy they are committed to tackling the issue of waste across their global operations, reducing waste, recycling and repurposing materials with collaborations that support local communities.

Arena have introduced processes to understand and track the full life cycle of their products and are following a circular economy model; ensuring there are multiple uses for everything it procures, from design to delivery.

As part of this strategy, the team at Arena has been exploring a variety of innovative ways to re-purpose, reuse and recycle unavoidable waste across their global operations.

  • In Malaysia, teams from Arena work with Ground Control, a company that collects their used event carpets to make plant pots for urban gardens and linings for compost bins – supporting local people to enjoy the benefits and pleasure of gardening.
  • In the UK, Arena works with social enterprise, The Wood Shack, to collect timber waste onsite where 100% is reused or repurposed, to support disadvantaged people in learning carpentry skills.
  • Arena’s St Ives office is donating 100% of its out-of-date first aid kits to a nearby Cadets group, to help with their learning and training in first aid skills.

Arena Group is an international supplier, providing a range of bespoke services and temporary event infrastructure to events of all sizes and genres.  They are one of Vision: 2025’s Green Suppliers, committed to supporting the live events industry to reduce environmental impacts: Read the Arena Group supplier profile.
